I'm writing this after lunch at work so it needs to be short and sweet. The previous post sure does reflect my confusion about how best to go after this "simple" life. Why is it so darn difficult - I mean, this is supposed to be about simplifying, isn't it? I think I've got the cart before the horse here. I've thought about it and I'm pretty sure I dreamed about it last night. It's okay to be looking at "what's out there" home-wise, but we're no where close to putting our home on the market. For one thing, the market ain't so good now. Soooo, I'm thinking (this DOES get me in trouble once in a while, know what I mean?) about going with the decluttering aspect of simplification. This is good because it's actually practicing an important skill AND it's getting us nearer to selling that beautiful home that we built ourselves <sob!>. Who knows? We might get so into this that we end up paying off that mortgage in long run.
I'm going to have to get back to my afternoon work pretty soon but before I do I have an announcement. I will be writing my 100th post very shortly and I've seen where folks tend to do a "give away" to celebrate such an event. My give-away has just got to be these "Tall Flower" embroidered pillowcases that I've been working on. I'll have the second one finished tonight or tomorrow night and will send them to one randomly chosen, lucky commenter I'll even get a chance to wash and line dry them on my new clothesline - test drive is this weekend. They really are pretty, so leave a comment (and a way to get back to you). Let's say that Sunday, the 31st will be the deadline for comments. Thanks for coming around!
Congratulations on your 100th post...your pillow cases are a perfect gift for your readers.

Just found your site through down---to---earth and love it. I too live in Colorado/front range so your site is very interesting to me. What works in other parts of the works may not work in dry Colorado. I really enjoyed your canning articles, love to can, then take pictures of all the beautiful full jars and their colors. Please enter me in your drawing, the pillow cases look GREAT.

Decluttering is always a good place to start, but you don't sound like you really want to sell, so as you said may-be you might get it paid off sooner now you are living a simpler life.
Congates on your 100th post, those pillow cases are are truly beautifull, glad I found your blog as I enjoy it so much. Have a great day,
Mandy..

Congratulations on your 100th post. I found you from Rhonda's blog. I love your stitching:) Was this your creation? or an iron-on? I love to stitch on pillow cases. I hope you show more of your stitchings:)

No, Renee, I didn't create this design. It's from Bucilla. I haven't yet ventured into my own designs:) My artistic abilities don't seem to extend to drawing. Or to music, for that matter.

I'm trying to move our family towards simplicity too. Some days it feels more difficult than others. Other days it seems I have a breakthrough and suddenly things get easier.

Congratulations on your 100th post. I have wanted to make my life more simple and connect more to the seasons for some time now but always seem to backslide. You are right - it is not easy particularly when low on time or energy as it does take some effort intially. I think that once you get into the habit of doing things a certain way, it does become easier. Your embroidered pillowslips are delightful and have inspired me to try my hand at embroidery (but something smaller).

Hi, I also wandered over from down to earth, and whilst browsing through your lovely blog (congrats by the way - i am new to blogging and cannot imagine 100 posts myself) anyway while I was enjoying looking I saw *our* song listed on your side panel - Richard Thompson's vincent black lightening - love that song! when i first met my husband J he was riding a early 60's BSA and I had the red hair and black leathers! must walk more, maybe i can fit them again! Best of luck with the simplifying, Scribhneoir

Beautiful pillow cases! Is there a pattern available or did you make it up yourself? I haven't done embroidery in years but these inspire me to take it up again.Rhonda mentioned you in her last post so I had to come check it out!

Such pretty embroidery Suzan, you are very generous to give away such beautiful work. The de-cluttering is a great idea. You can either sell and make a little money towards being debt-free or give away to someone less fortunate, and either way you 'win'. Also, having clutter is very bad feng shui so you'll be encouraging a whole load more 'good energy' into your home.

I love those pillow cases. I only use embroidered ones now, which I have found at garage sales or thrifting. I love to think of the women working at something beautiful and practical. A simply luxury! I too have been hanging my clothes on a line outside this summer. The Texas heat drys things in no time - saving electricity and reducing the amount of heat I am adding to our home.

Beautiful stitchery!
Good luck with the house decision. WE are living in the same confusion ... sell? redevelop? renovate? It's so hard and the risks so varied. Sigh.

Hello, I've come from Rhonda Too. What great company to find yourself in congratualations, your blog is lovely and interesting. Hi Suzan,
Please enter me in you 100th
blog drawing also.
When I saw the pillow cases
they reminded me of a white
cotton pullover jacket that
a girlfriend embroidered flowers
on for me in the 70's. Very
similar to your pattern on
the pillow cases. It was a
trip back in time to see that
beautiful handiwork.
Congrats on your welcoming,
simple, blog.

I have only had one breif encounter with a bear, and then now that I think about it, I really didn't have an encounter, so to speak. I was stopped by my friend's pet deer from going on up a trail, where there were a coupla bears around the bend. I told my friend what his deer had done to me and he asked me if I smelled anything bad in the air. I had noticed a peculiar odor and he told me that Mort (the deer) had just saved a bit of a problem. Whew!
